• Firehouse Subs has hired Vincent Burchianti as is corporate controller. He will be responsible for managing all finance, accounting and planning activities for the company.

• Courtenay Wilson and Ann Baker, founders of the Women’s Giving Alliance, will be representing the newly formed group of Jacksonville area women’s philanthropists at the national conference of the Women’s Philanthropy Institute in Dallas March 20-22. Wilson and Baker, chairman of the Community Foundation Trustees, started the 125-member WGA in November to pool philanthropic contributions to provide more focused support for local women’s causes.

• The UNF Center for Ethics, Public Policy and the Professions will host a symposium on expanding government support for faith-based initiatives April 4 from 7-9:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building auditorium. Dr. Mary S. Segers of the Department of Political Science at Rutgers University, Newark is the speaker. The symposium is free and open to the public.

• Al Kinard, Lynwood Roberts and Ed Witt will host the annual BBQ and Country Western Dance to benefit the Vision Is Priceless Council April 6 at 5 p.m. at the St. Augustine Rod & Gun Club. Tickets are $25. For information, call 308-2020.
