Confederate Park in Springfield is undergoing a few renovations. The City’s Parks Department is installing a playscape, walk path and landscaping. Construction started in January, but weather delays have slowed work recently. The estimated cost for the project is $43,857 and should be complete in the next few weeks, weather permitting. Overlapping the improvements will be City work on Hogan’s Creek. A $3 million project, the creek will be widened at the mouth of the St. Johns River to held ease the flow. With the park being situated in a flood plain, the Hogan’s Creek widening will alleviate flooding because of heavy rains.
