The Gator Bowl Association held its annual media outing at North Hampton recently, starting its season that will culminate with the annual bowl football game on New Year’s Day.
Invited were the area sportswriters and sportscasters, and they were paired with members of the Gator Bowl executive committee.
Winning the better ball event were three past GBA presidents and a writer, as BellSouth’s Jim McCollum, Leerie Jenkins of RS&H and Bob White of the Compass Bank teamed with Daytona Beach News-Journal writer Randy Rorrer for a 21-under 51. In second place were Dave Clavier of RS&H, Karl Torp of Ch. 30 and Fred Seely and Mike Sharkey of the Daily Record at 55.
