Losing a tie for charity

Realtor George Linville waves pieces of Mayor John Delaney’s tie during the Southside Rotary meeting Tuesday at the Radisson. Linville had the highest bid — $475 — in an auction to benefit the Rotary Club’s polio foundation, which won him the remains of the tie. Chief Assistant State Attorney Jay Plotkin cut Delaney’s tie in half, despite the mayor’s protests that it “came from Rosenblum’s.” At the meeting Delaney discussed the future of the Duval County Courthouse and City Hall Annex sites, saying he expects a Request for Proposal to be issued within the next year. He would like to see a “commercial development with green space to draw people towards the center of the city.”
