• Attorney and U.S. House candidate Wayne Hogan and his wife Pat donated $150,000 to the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation to support the Foundation programs and the development of a Youth Tennis & Education Center. • Mark Gruszecki, president and CEO of the Jacksonville Economic Development Company (JEDCO) has been awarded the National Leadership Award by U.S. Rep. Tom Delay of the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Business Advisory Council.

• Sam Houston Jr. has been named division chief of the Fleet Management Division in the City’s Department of Administration and Finance. He will oversee 170 employees and the maintenance of 5,000 City vehicles, including garbage trucks, fire engines and squad cars.

• Capt. Michael M. Rosecrans of the U.S. Coast Guard, is the speaker at the Navy League Jacksonville Council luncheon Thursday at the Radisson. Cost is $15. For reservations, call 251-2765.

• The Sailboat Club will host its annual dinner Oct. 22 at Fogle Fine Art and Accessories, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Charlie Schmitt, who is organizing a series of televised races in Jacksonville featuring America’s Cup yachts, is the speaker. Cost is $18 per person. RSVP to 886-7244.
