The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens annual Very Special Arts Festival, which began Wednesday and ends today, attracted 2,000 students with disabilities to the museum to experience the world of art from their unique perspectives. The youngsters were given an opportunity to see artistic demonstrations and performances and style their own creations. Hands-on activities centered around painting, sculpting, drawing, dancing, singing and storytelling.

“This is a wonderful art event for children,” said Neptune Beach Elementary School teacher Mrs. Kuterka. “This is the premiere field trip for exceptional students.”

Approximately 700 volunteers were utilized for the three-day event.

About 2,000 students participated in the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens Very Special Arts Festival this week.
