• Four local Rotarians have been selected to serve as assistant governors, overseeing the 54 Rotary Clubs in North and Central Florida’s Rotary District 6970. Mike Brannam of the Rotary Club of San Jose, Clint Dawkins of the Rotary Club of West Jacksonville, Guy Marvin of the Rotary Club of Downtown and Ken Weiss of the Rotary Club of South Jacksonville will serve during the 2003-04 Rotary year.
• Charlotte Mabrey hosts An Evening of 20th Century Music Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. at the University of North Florida’s Fine Arts Center. Performing with Mabrey are Peter Wright, principal clarinetist with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Robert Arleigh Whiter, executive director of the Cultural Council, and members of the UNF Percussion Ensemble.
• The Boardwalk Group, a Jacksonville Beach-based marketing and interactive consulting firm, has named Lance Veitch art director and promoted Kendrick Kidd to senior art director.
• Daniel Torok has been named Landstar Carrier Group vice president, Eastern region.
• Sheriff John Rutherford is the scheduled speaker at today’s IndoUS Chamber of Commerce of Northeast Florida meeting at the Holiday Inn, Baymeadows. He will discuss crime and prostitution in the hotels/motels located on Philips Highway and Emerson Street. He may also announce some measures to curb adult entertainment in those areas. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m.
