Bruce Jasinsky is the owner of Coldwell Banker Jasinsky and Associates and vice president of Southern Plantations of Florida, a development company in Fernandina Beach. He has owned Jasinsky and Associates for 20 years and joined the Coldwell Banker franchise about 12 years ago.

DEVELOPMENT COMPANY?

Two years ago he started a development company, Southern Plantations of Florida, a subdivision land developer in the Amelia Island area.

WHAT AREA

DOES HE SERVE?

Greater Amelia Island area. “What is happening now is that most of the residential development and commercial activity opportunities are on the A1A corridor between Amelia Island and I-95.”

WHAT DOES HE DO?

Lists and sells real estate, runs the Coldwell Banker Jasinsky office, oversees the property management division of his office and is actively involved in locating new development opportunities for the development company.

WHERE WAS HE BEFORE COLDWELL BANKER JASINSKY?

He majored in education but he didn’t want to be a school teacher, so he left college and decided to join Vera Boner Realty in 1978. “She gave me opportunity to start in real estate and taught me all the fundamental aspects of the business. One of the main things she told me was to ‘Strike while the iron’s hot’.”

HOW FAR DOES HIS FRANCHISE REACH?

“I have the eastern half of Nassau County.”

HOW DID HE GET INTO REAL ESTATE?

He rented a house from Boner after college and voiced the interest in real estate, so she gave him an opportunity.

GIFT OF GAB

“I have been told I could talk a cat off of a fish wagon. That is the biggest compliment I have ever gotten in real estate.”

WHAT IS GOING ON IN AMELIA ISLAND?

“Prices have increased dramatically over last 10 years. More significantly since the Ritz Carlton came to the island. It exposed Amelia Island to more of a worldwide market. The oceanfront area has seen significant rehabilitation and most recently people are buying tracts and tearing buildings down to have the opportunity for new commercial and condominium developments. But, I will say that there is a unified front of the citizens, REALTORS and government bodies not to allow Amelia Island to be dominated by condominiums.”

BIRTHPLACE

Chicago, but he was raised in Virginia.

MOVED TO NASSAU COUNTY?

1976 with his family.

ASSOCIATIONS?

He is a founding member of the Nassau County Board of REALTORS.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT REAL ESTATE?

“I like that there is no monotony to the business. There are new challenges every day.”

FAMILY

He has been married to Pat for 15 years. Together they have three children.

RESIDES

Amelia Island.

HOBBIES

Golf, fishing and water skiing. He recently bought a house on Kingsley Lake and enjoys water sports with his children.

FAVORITES

He cites his favorite movie as “It’s a Mad Mad Mad World.” “It kind of mirrors my daily life,” he joked. A book he enjoyed was, “The Art of War,” by Sun Tzu. His favorite place to relax is his lake house. When dining out, he enjoys The Marina in Fernandina Beach and when tuning into television, he gets a kick out of “Everybody Loves Raymond.”
