• Kristen L. Tackett has been named business development officer for the Jacksonville Economic Development Company.
• The Jacksonville Public Library Foundation Board of Directors announced its officers for 2003. Officers are Sallyn S. Pajcic, chair; Michael Hightower, vice chair; Jeanne Ward, secretary; and David Albaneze, treasurer. Rita Cannon, immediate past chair, will continue to serve on the foundation executive committee and chair the nominating committee. Also announced was the appointment of Darrin G. Finley to the JPLF Board. Finley is assistant vice president and assistant branch manager of the Jacksonville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Members continuing to serve on the foundation board are John Burr, Paula Buss, Jack Coleman, Victor Cora, Frank Green, Marsha Holmes, Rick Jones, Jeanine Peterson, Mark Miles, Catherine Nesbitt, Katherine Wilson and Library Director Ken Sivulich.
• The Jacksonville Humane Society is hosting its annual awards banquet Friday from 6-10 p.m. at the Jacksonville Marriott. Award winners include The Bear Foundation, Vandiver Televideo, Inc., Chs. 30 and 47, Bank of America, ZAG, Sgt. Shawn McCormick, Robin Cartwright, Edith and Torben Andersen, Kathy Wilsie, Janet Saunders, Rebecca Miranda, Jim Williamson, Pat Spargur, Kristen Parker, Sam and Barbara Vittitow and David Mann.
