• The Jacksonville Asian-American Bar Association has named its officers for 2003-04. They are They-Anh Nguyen, president; Ronnie Marquinez, vice president; Tara Woods, treasurer; and Maria Aguila, secretary. The group meets again Sept. 4 at noon at Ford & Miller law firm. Lunch will be provided.
• Monica Costello has been named clinic administrator for the Volunteers in Medicine of Jacksonville free clinic.
• Joseph “Jim” Bonanno has been named project engineer for Bessent, Hammack and Ruckman, Inc.’s Palm Coast branch.
• Jacksonville Community Council, Inc. is hosting its Summer Social Aug. 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. The event is free and open to the public.
• Ray Adams has been named president of Coastal Industries, a local shower enclosure manufacturer. William M. Cobb, founder and chair of Coastal Industries, will assume the title of CEO.
• Peter Helow, president of Empire Communications Group, has been named Rotarian of the Year by the San Jose Rotary Club. He is the first recipient of the award by the club, which was formed in February.
• The library has been awarded a Library Public Relations Council award for its annual report, which was one of two voted the best nationwide.
