A Look Inside A

30 Year Old Case

United States v. Glen W. Turner, F. Lee Bailey,

Dare To Be Great, Koscot Interplanitary, Inc., et al.

This will be a very unique presentation exploring the 30 year old case which lasted 8 months and produced over 1,000 evidence exhibits and 160 witnesses. The trial ultimately ended in a mistrial due to the jury’s inability to reach a verdict. Participants in this seminar will be the Honorable Gerald Tjoflat, Judge Peter Dearing, Charles Pillans, Esquire, and Edward Garland, Esquire. Judge Tjoflat was the presiding judge in this case. Judge Dearing was one of the Assistant United States Attorneys. Edward Garland (Atlanta) acted as defense counsel alongside Charles Pillans, the Bedell Firm. Materials alone for this seminar will be worth the registration fee. See some of the original documents in the case, such as Judge Tjoflat’s original hand-written notes on jury selection and more.

Concluding The seminar will be Elizabeth White, Esquire, of Sheppard, White and Thomas, P. A. White will make a presentation of an overview of Federal and State rules and procedures in criminal cases. White has presented this presentation to the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Criminal Trial Lawyer Certification Exam Seminar.

New Developments in Technology Law

This annual seminar will explore a number of hot topics in the technology law field. Mark Young, Esquire, of McGuire Woods, LLP, will address recent decisions involving traditional cybersquatting, fair use, and rights of publicity and competing trademarks. Howard Caplain, Esquire, of Howard Caplain, P.A., will review entity issues, consideration issues, intellectual property protection, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights, and confidentiality issues. William Morlan, Esquire, of Rogers Towers, P.A., will lead a discussion on key issues in technology outsourcing agreements. Carolyn Herman, Esquire, of Carolyn Herman P.A., will focus on defamation, intellectual property rights and consumer protection in cyberspace. This group will be joined by a digital forensics expert who will discuss breaches of security, among other topics.
