Looking to build a career? The Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA) will accept applications for its four-year apprenticeship program, for jobs and training in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, and heating/air conditioning & refrigeration trades every Monday in June.

Interested persons must apply on Mondays at 7 P.M. at the NEFBA office, 103 Century 21 Drive, Suite 100.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be a high school graduate or have a GED, and have a driver’s license and transportation. There is no cost to eligible applicants. NEFBA is an equal opportunity employer.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, most employers recommend an apprenticeship as the best way to start a career in a construction trade. The Northeast Florida Builders Association has been providing the construction industry with apprenticeship training in the five trades for almost 30 years. The four-year program offers apprentices jobs where they work during the day and attend class two nights a week.

“Job opportunities for trained, skilled craftsmen in the construction industry are expected to be excellent over the 2000-10 period. Well-trained workers will have especially favorable opportunities,” said Jonny Moore, training vice president of the 1,600-member Northeast Florida Builders Association. “In North Florida, construction activity should increase in response to demand for new housing and commercial and industrial plants and the need to renovate and modernize existing structures.”

The Northeast Florida Builders Association has been serving the construction industry in nine Northeast Florida counties for 58 years. The Association represents more than 1,600 member firms and professionals deeply involved in building, remodeling, sales, marketing, multifamily construction and management, design, finance, insurance, product manufacturing and commercial construction. NEFBA is affiliated with the Florida Home Builders Association and National Association of Home Builders.
