• The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville has funded eight arts organizations through its capital program. The recipients are Beaches Fine Art Series, $16,347; Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, $200,148; Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art, $200,148; Museum of Science & History, $300,000; Players-by-the-Sea, $13,500; St Johns River City Band, $115,000; Theatre Jacksonville, $24,856; and WJCT Public Broadcasting, $130,000.

• Sally Corporation has promoted Donna Gentry (left) to vice president, project management. Gentry began her career with Sally 20 years ago as a member of the art department.

• The Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art will host High Tide: Drawings and Sculptures by Joe Waters, beginning Aug. 1. There’s an opening reception scheduled for July 31 from 6-8 p.m. at the museum. Also opening Aug. 1 is an exhibition by local artist Jonathan Lux, featuring oil on canvas portraits and landscapes of Jacksonville locations.

• The San Jose Rotary Club has elected officers for its charter year. The new officers are Jim Culp, president; Joe Perry, vice president; Richard Treadwell, secretary; and Mike O’Brien, sergeant at arms. The officers will be installed July 1.

• FCCJ is now offering a 25-hour SAT coaching program at the North, South, Downtown and Kent campuses. Cost is $35.

• All Saints Episcopal Church is offering a Celtic worship service every Wednesday at 7 p.m. during the summer, except for July 23. The service includes prayers, scripture and songs collected from a Scottish monastery. Each service is different and includes 10 minutes of silence to achieve centered prayer. Because of its popularity, church officials are considered integrating the services into their regular programming.
