Now that they have celebrated their six-month anniversary, London Bridge Pub and Eatery owners Martin and Virginia Readion are already eying another big project.

The couple is currently talking with the mayor’s office and Downtown Vision, Inc. to organize a block party in the downtown business district. The Jacksonville Urban Magnet Program is already on board.

“Everyone we’ve talked to seems very enthusiastic,” said Ginger Readion of the planned October event. “We feel like it’s necessary to reintroduce the community to downtown. We’re on the path to betterment here — to a better Jacksonville — and something like this would make a great splash. A lot of people haven’t been down here in a while and they don’t know how much has changed.”

Though still working on the “finer details” — the exact date and duration of the party has yet to be determined — the Readions said “everyone and anyone” is encouraged to get involved.

“It’s more than just the businesses and restaurants down here,” said Ginger Readion. “We’re also trying to get a good cross-section of artists. Local musicians are welcome, too.”

Anyone interested in participating should contact the Readions at 359-0001.
