The Adam’s Mark Hotel, the Chamber of Commerce and PRI Productions are hosting the Super Sports Spectacular today at 5:30 p.m. The event highlights Jacksonville’s sports community and gives the public a chance to interact with members of the city’s sports scene.

“This is a way to give exposure to all of the different sports programs in Jacksonville,” said Laura Cagan, regional director of advertising and community relations at the Adam’s Mark.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, the Gator Bowl Association and the Jacksonville Suns will all have exhibits, as will the Super Bowl Host Committee and the Jacksonville Barracudas.

“The athletic departments from the University of North Florida, Jacksonville University and Edward Waters College will all participate,” said Cagan. “It’s also a good way for non-profit organizations that use sporting events as fundraisers to get their information out.”

The Florida/Georgia Game, Charity Redfish Tournament, PGA Tour and Daytona Speedway and the Kingfish Tournament also will be represented.

The event will be in the Adam’s Mark’s grand ballroom and Cagan said PRI Productions is turning the place into a sports bar for the night.

“And there will be a pace car from NASCAR, a power boat used for the firefighters’ poker run and the firefighters will be bring a ladder truck,” said Cagan, adding she’s anticipating a good crowd.

“Last year we had 1,200 people,” said Cagan. “This year we’re hoping to have 1,500-2,000 people. The more the merrier.”

Tickets are $5, which includes two free drinks and appetizers.
