Representatives from the National Football League don’t seem to be having any trouble acquiring their frequent flyer miles.

According to the Super Bowl Host Committee, the NFL’s Jim Steeg and Don Renzulli just wrapped their fourth local fact-finding trip.

“On this particular visit I believe they were interested in seeing several of the specific locations that may be utilized during the Super Bowl,” said Host Committee spokesperson Heather Surface, “basically to get a better idea of how the NFL will address some of their logistical issues and challenges next year.

Steeg, the NFL’s senior vice president of special events, said the visit most closely resembled that of a meet-and-greet.

“We’re constantly moving forward as we get closer to next year, but we want to be sure we get to know everyone we’ll be working with and also get a better of idea of what kind of venues we’ll need for entertainment and recreation purposes,” he said.

Steeg visited downtown venues, Jacksonville International Airport and the World Golf Village in St. Augustine.

Host Committee president Michael Kelly said Steeg has previously visited “several hotels,” various other entities and authorities.

“It’s obviously going to be important for the NFL to meet as many people as possible while they gather information, especially as they get closer to executing their plan in Jacksonville,” he said. “We look forward to seeing more details as they come together.”

Steeg will likely return to Jacksonville in May.

“That’s my hope, but it’s going to be non-stop for a while,” he said. “We’re probably going to have someone from the NFL here each week.”
