Downtown Vision, Inc. held its annual meeting Wednesday, praising area developments on the residential and commercial fronts and recognizing those who continue to aid in that progress.

Five awards were given during the evening. Architect Tri Vu was honored for his idea to light the city’s bridges.

“For making a tremendous impact on downtown’s skyline through initiating and gaining support for the decorative lighting of downtown’s bridges,” said DVI executive director Terry Lorince, “the 2004 Cityscape award goes to Tri Vu of TTV Architects.”

Trammell Crow Company’s Terry Parker was recognized for his commitment to improving downtown safety, and Jeff Hilton of Levy Management for “raising the bar and leading by example when keeping downtown streetscapes presentable.”

Other honorees included Jean Monsky for founding the Jacksonville Film Festival and Jim Bailey of Bailey Publishing, who was presented with the 2004 Downtown Visionary Award.

“This business has shown outstanding support of downtown and downtown businesses through a weekly publication (Downtown This Week) full of information about the who, what, when, where and why of downtown,” said Lorince. “Filled with restaurant listings, an events calendar, snapshots of downtown living and weekly updates on everything from developments to transportation issues, this weekly publication has become a valuable source of downtown information.”
