PGA Tour professionals Mark McCumber and Fred Funk, honorary co-chairmen of the Monique Burr Foundation Jinglebells Golf Classic, recently joined 20 golf professionals from the PGA TOUR and LPGA at the Golf Club of South Hampton raising $349,734 that will fund the Foundation’s programs.

Presented by Zurich Insurance, BellSouth and Landmar, the tournament is in its sixth year and has raised more than $1 million representing the largest charity tournament in northeast Florida other than The Players Championship.

“One in three girls and one in five boys will be a victim of child abuse. That number will get smaller one-day thanks in part to programs like ‘Good Touch/Bad Touch,’ which is presented in elementary schools throughout northeast Florida and funded by the Monique Burr Foundation,” said McCumber.

“We are committed to making a difference in our community and by giving our time to a cause such as child abuse and other critical programs funded the by Foundation.

“Each year, we as professionals enjoy this tournament and are able to rally support from our sponsors and have a good time playing golf for such a great cause,” Funk said.

Established in memory of Monique Burr, the late wife of LandMar CEO Ed Burr, an advocate for children until her untimely death in 1996, the Foundation supports numerous child abuse and neglect prevention and response programs. In addition to the Good Touch/Bad Touch program, the Children’s Crisis Center, Fresh Ministries, Monique’s Kids and the Monique Burr Child Safety Net are just a few of the local beneficiaries.
