Carol Glover has been a closer with Advanced Agents Title in Fernandina Beach for a little more than a year.

WHAT DOES SHE DO?

She handles commercial and residential real estate closings.

HER HISTORY?

She started her career in the banking industry with Barnett Bank (Bank of America) where she processed and closed loans for seven years. She then went to work for Marshall Wood, an attorney, doing real estate closings for three years. Then she became a Realtor with Prudential Chaplin Williams for three years.

HOW DID YOU GET BACK INTO THE TITLE BUSINESS?

Glover said her real estate career went well at first, but then she hit a dry spell, so she decided to go back to what she knew and get into the title business again. Through her connections as a Realtor, she heard that Advanced Agents Title was opening an office in Fernandina Beach, so she joined the company.

WHAT CAN REALTORS DO TO MAKE YOUR JOB EASIER?

“The biggest thing is providing us information about the buyers and sellers when they bring us their contracts. That makes our job easier in getting their transaction closed smoother. It’s all a team effort. The more we know up front when we start the order, the easier it is for us to do our job which makes for a smoother closing when we come to the table. Make sure you put the buyers and sellers addresses on the contract. Little things like that help us.”

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MAKE YOUR JOB EASIER?

Glover designed a transmittal letter to go along with the contract when submitted to a closing company. It has a place for all the contact information for the buyers and sellers and other important information the closing company needs to know. “I’m willing to give that out to anyone that wants to make their transaction go smoother.”

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THE TITLE BUSINESS?

“I like problem-solving and getting the closing done smoothly. Not every transaction is smooth.”

HOW HAS YOUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AS A REALTOR HELPed?

“I think it helped immensely because I’ve been in a Realtor’s shoes. I know what they are doing, what goes on when you take a listing and what goes on when you are writing a contract. Therefore, I am more familiar with the contract and what addendums should be there or shouldn’t be there.”

FUTURE GOALS?

“We are a big company with about 100 employees and 12 offices. We would like to expand at some point into the Yulee market. I wouldn’t mind being the branch manager out there.”

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS?

Glover is a notary public and is a member of the Amelia Island/Nassau County Association of Realtors.

WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE RECEIVED FROM

A CO-WORKER?

“Don’t be such a perfectionist. Always strive to do the best job you can. I have a tendency to go too far in trying to make sure everything is right to the point of maybe alienating people. Do your job well and don’t worry about someone else’s job. Don’t try to make them a perfectionist just because you are.”

LESSONS LEARNED?

Glover said to cross your Ts and dot your Is. “Usually if you make a mistake in the title business, it’s a money mistake. Keep your ears open because in your conversations with the buyers, sellers or Realtors, you might pick up on something that was missed in the title search. You have to be diligent in what you do.”

HOMETOWN?

Indianapolis, Ind.

RESIDES?

Yulee.

CHURCH?

Springhill Baptist.

PERSONAL SIDE?

Glover is engaged to Stephen Campbell, an information technologies manager at CSX. She has one son, Chris, 18. When she is not working, she enjoys fishing, working in the yard and reading. A book she has read and would recommend is “Summers Child,” by Fern Michaels. Her favorite movie of all time is “The Sound of Music.” When relaxing at home, she enjoys tuning into “CSI.” When traveling, she loves the Florida Keys. When dining out, she enjoys Murray’s Grill.
