Landing's Christmas tree ready for festivities

In a span of one week, a 50-foot Norwegian spruce traveled to Jacksonville from North Carolina, was rigged with cables, decorated with thousands of lights and trimmed with colorful ornaments, oversized candy canes and snowflakes.

The tree at the Landing will be lit on Friday night with thousands watching to kick off the 2005 holiday season. The tree-lighting ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Landing’s courtyard. Fireworks over the St. Johns River will immediately follow the lighting of the tree.
