Several NEFBA members have chosen to honor past president Henry Bachara, who died this past July, with a donation in Bachara’s name to the Arnold Tritt Scholarship Fund. Bachara, who served as president of the association in 1968, was a mentor to many and respected by all.

“He was a great man who always put a helping hand out to all of us,” Rita Williams of Merchandising Plus, and a contributor, said. “I believe he would love the objectives of the scholarship fund. I am honored to have had his help throughout my career.”

Other members who made donations in Bachara’s honor include Tritt & Franson, Matovina & Company and past president Denise Wallace.

Established by the Northeast Florida Builders Association, the Arnold Tritt Scholarship is awarded to juniors and seniors in the University of North Florida Building Construction Management program who demonstrate a financial need. Scholarship awards are presented at the UNF Hard Hat Banquet in the spring and the NEFBA/SMC installation ceremony in the winter.

To date, 10 students have been awarded scholarships totaling $20,000.

Funds for the scholarship are from member donations and NEFBA fund-raising events.

A tax-deductible donation to the Arnold Tritt Scholarship Fund, a 501( c)(3) non-profit, can be forwarded to NEFBA, 103 Century 21 Drive, Suite 100, Jacksonville 32216-9256.
