Advice for first-year students

Florida Coastal School of Law is hosting “The Starting Line” — an event aimed at first-year students and designed to educate them about all of their options as they advance towards graduation. It‘s taking place Wednesday from 5–8 p.m. in the school’s atrium. FCSL chair Bob Rhodes will welcome everyone to the event followed by comments from Caroline Emery, president-elect of the Jacksonville Bar Association. So far, more than 100 students and 40 employers/70 lawyers are planning to attend.

Wordsmiths wanted

It’s that time of year again. The 9t h Annual Learn to Read Scrabble Soiree is set for Nov. 30 from 6-9 p.m. at St. Johns Cathedral on east Church Street. Several local businesses have committed including the law firms of Coker Schickel Sorenson & Daniel (Scrabble board sponsor), the Law Offices of Moses Meide Jr. and Coffman Coleman Andrews & Grogan. Lawyers as Santa

The Jacksonville Bar Association and Urban Jacksonville Meals on Wheels are teaming up to assure over 500 Jacksonville area senior citizens have a great Christmas. JBA lawyers will purchase, wrap and deliver gifts to Meals on Wheels clients as part of the annual “Each One Sponsor One” project.
