The fact that the Property Appraiser’s Web site is the most visited of any City agency may have played a significant role in Jim Overton picking up a nice award in Milwaukee recently.

The Duval County Property Appraiser’s Office received the Public Information Program Award (for large jurisdictions) from the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). The award was presented to Overton at the 72nd Annual IAAO Conference in Milwaukee.

“We are always looking for better ways to share information about what we do,” said Overton. “I’m proud of our employees for being recognized as the best in the association this year.”

The award is presented annually to a jurisdiction that has developed and implemented an effective system for disseminating information to taxpayers. The Property Appraiser’s Office was recognized for public information and outreach efforts including publications and informational brochures, public service announcements, presence at public events, employee training and its web site. The Property Appraiser’s Web site (www.coj.net/pa), which gets more than one million hits annually, is the most visited Web site of any city agency or department in Jacksonville. Over 50 jurisdictions competed for this year’s award.
