All 12 candidates for county and circuit court judge were together for the Hispanic Bar Association’s “Meet the judicial candidates” event at the Main Library Thursday evening. The candidates mingled with members of the association and handed out numerous flyers for their respective campaigns.

Each candidate spoke for four minutes stating their platform and experience. Immediate past-president Paola Parra-Harris added one caveat to the candidates speeches: they had to say something “nice” about another candidate on the panel.

The event drew more than 50 members of the Hispanic Bar Association and members of the community. The Hispanic Bar Association was founded in September 2004 to foster fellowship among Hispanic judges — among others — and promote the advancement of Hispanics to leadership positions in federal, state and local government, as well as the judiciary.
