There was strength in numbers at last month’s Southeast Building Conference in Orlando as the 29th annual event attracted over 16,000 to the Orange County Convention Center.

Themed “All the Right Moves,” the Florida Home Builders Association-sponsored show presented a record 1,127 exhibits, including 45 in the new GreenTrends section of booths sponsored by the Florida Green Building Coalition. The GreenTrends component also included a number of educational programs on green building.

“It was a natural,” said SEBC Chair Barbara Revels, a Flagler Beach builder. “Just as Green building is gaining in importance and awareness, we are here with the tools and resources to help make it happen.”

The gianty show also included numerous meetings as well as the presentation of the annual Excel and Aurora awards.

SEBC and GreenTrends officials announced that the co-location agreement would be extended to 2008, when the show will be held July 31-August 3, again at the Convention Center in Orlando.

The first-ever Reverse Trade Show attracted 31 major builders and 31 suppliers in one-on-one dialogues.

“We believe that the Reverse Trade Show will be an important component of SEBC for years to come,” said Revels. “All the participants seemed very pleased that it led to important relationships and met their expectations.”
