Realtors were dressed in pink for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and enjoyed a festive atmosphere during D.R. Horton’s “Pretty in Pink” VIP Realtor event recently at its Glen St. Johns model homes.
Angie Lindsey, executive director of the North Florida Susan G. Komen Foundation, was on hand to accept donations and educate Realtors about the awareness effort taking place.
“It’s a very nice event,” said Lindsey. “I thought it went extremely well and it was great to get out and meet a few people in the industry.”
Lindsey said that builders and Realtors have numerous events throughout the year with Komen and that the best part about them is raising awareness about the organization that is seeking to cure breast cancer.
Guests were treated to hor d’oeuvres and drinks while listening to a live band outside and were encouraged to learn more about Komen and D.R. Horton’s model homes.
Complimentary pink manicures were given by specialists from Dr. Clayman’s Miracle Spa, gift baskets were raffled and pink awareness ribbons were sold with all proceeds and donations going toward Komen.
Raffle items included a Vera Bradley tote set, a PGA Tour Spa Laterra gift certificate, a Dr. Clayman’s Miracle Spa gift certificate, an iPod, a product gift basket from Dr. Clayman’s Miracle Spa, a Skirt! magazine gift bag and a D.R. Horton wine and cheese basket.
Between the raffle and donations, over $1,000 was raised for Komen.
Visiting Realtors also received gift bags with a pink ribbon desk gift set and a self exam card from Komen.
“It is for a great cause,” said Amber King, marketing director for D.R. Horton. “I’m glad we can be a part
of it.”
