• Clarification. A City Note Tuesday indicated the 30 miniature cats the Otis Smith Foundation will produce will be on display around town. They will be sponsored, but they won’t be on display until the July 10 auction. Foundation Executive Director Bonnie Upright said Mayor John Peyton and Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio have agreed to design a “Celebri-kitty” as has a female “country singer superstar” that Upright declined to name yet.

• The recent auction held by Bishop John J. Snyder High was a success according to Shelley Gudzak, the school’s director of development. Over $50,000 was raised for the school’s Fine Arts and Athletics departments and $560 of that came thanks to the mayor’s office, which donated the use of its private suite at the Arena for a Jacksonville Barracudas game and another eight tickets.

• Speaking of Peyton, he’s been asked by the City School District in Rochester, N.Y. to assist the district in its search for a new school superintendent. Edward Hamilton, chairman of the consulting firm of Hamilton, Rabinovitz & Alschuler, Inc. — which has been retained by the school district — has asked Peyton to forward any resumes he may have on file.

• Champion of the fairways Becky Sauer of Ladies Pro at Southwood Golf Course had a ton of Golf tips as well as a few laughs to share with guests at this month’s Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) meeting held at the River City Brewing Company. Sauer was the event’s guest speaker and discussed the topic, “Networking in the Trenches: Breaking out of your Comfort Zone.” One of the more notable golf tips she gave: “You can really tell how honest a person is by the way they play golf. I should have golfed with my second husband.” Sauer also pointed out that years ago, golf was referred to by many men as an acronym for, “Gentlemen only, ladies forbidden,” and nowadays the word stands for, “Gentlemen out, ladies forever.”

“Judicial judgment must take deep account ... of the day before yesterday in order that yesterday may not paralyze today.”
