The First Amendment Foundation, the Office of Open Government and The Florida Bar Media & Communications Law Committee will present a day-long workshop on public records and Florida’s Government in the Sunshine Laws on Oct. 8 in Tallahassee.

The first of three Sunshine Seminars, the Tallahassee forum will be held from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the R.A. Gray Building, Heritage Hall Auditorium. The presenters include First Amendment Foundation President Barbara Petersen; Office of Open Government Special Counsel Pat Gleason; lawyers Susan Bunch and Jim Lake, who specialize in media law; and State Library and Archives consultant Candice Odom.

The registration fee is $75, with discounts for foundation members and students and those attending only a half-day of the session. A boxed lunch is included. The seminar has been approved for a maximum of seven General CLER credits for attorneys. Credit hours also are available for certified investigators and both city and court clerks. Lawyers seeking CLER credit will pay $50 in addition to the registration fee.

The two additional seminars will be held on Oct. 15 at the University of Central Florida, in Orlando, and on Oct. 23 at Florida International University (North Campus), in Miami. Media lawyers Judy Mercier, Greg Herbert and Casey Ebsary Jr. will be The Florida Bar’s Media & Communications Law Committee’s presenters in Orlando, with the presenter to be announced later for the Miami session.
