• The historic marker at the corner of Bay and Market streets was apparently a casualty of the storm that passed through the area Thursday. Friday morning, the sign commemorating the day and place where Isaiah Hart began laying out Jacksonville’s streets was on its side. City workers said it appeared it may have been the victim of a wind gust or even a small tornado, since lights on a nearby tree were also damaged.

• Leonard Curry, CPA and co-founder of ICX Group, was elected chair of the Duval County Republican Executive Committee Monday. He succeeds John Falconetti and previously served as the organization’s treasurer.

• Douglas Brown has been named COO of Operation New Hope, the nonprofit community development corporation that operates ONH Development and Ready4Work. He was previously North Florida Market President for Neighborhood Lending Partners, Inc. and has served as executive director of the City’s Housing Commission and the Jacksonville Housing Finance Authority. ONH Development builds new affordable homes for first-time buyers in Springfield and East Jacksonville. Ready4Work is a program for ex-offenders that facilitates their re-entry into the workforce.

• Correction: In a Wednesday story involving Winn-Dixie donations to five local charities, the amount of each check was $25,000 – not $5,000 each, for a total of $25,000, as was reported.
