The organization: Represents the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors in the beaches area and provides networking and educational events convenient to members.

What she’ll do: “As chair of the NEFAR Beaches Council, my responsibilities are to entertain the audience on a weekly basis, set up speakers with a relevant message and keep the meeting on time so we can get a timely start on caravan. Plus, keep the heckling and peanut gallery comments to a minimum.”

How selected/elected: “I was elected by an overwhelming majority of the audience who thought I needed more time to work on my stand up routine and ‘torture’ them for another year.”

When are the meetings and what happens at them: Meetings are 8:45a.m. every Thursday at the Beaches NEFAR office in South Beach Regional Plaza. “We have networking for the early birds and officially start the meeting with introductions around the room then run through brief but fun announcements and have an entertaining speaker for 15-20 minutes. Then, we run through pitches (new listings/price reductions), go over caravan and end with rumors/innuendo and gossip.”

Her business: She is a Realtor with Vanguard Realty/GMAC, Inc. in Jacksonville Beach.

Goals for 2008 as chair: “The goals of my vice chairman, Andrew Bell, and I are to have a ‘Homes 101’ series over the course of the year to educate our guests with what things we all need to know about our plumbing, electrical, and other major systems, as well as to continue to have motivational speakers in about every 6-8 weeks. We want to kick the programming up another notch to make it more interesting to everyone who joins us. And make it tougher on the vice chair next year.”

How does the organization have an impact on the industry? “The council does have an impact on the industry. The Beaches Council members took Affiliate of the Year award (Andrew Bell,) a Humanitarian of the Year award (Paul Gruenther) and a Silent Angel of the Year award (Carolyn Minor) from NEFAR in 2007”

What does the organization offer members that is unique? “We offer the only weekly meeting you can find anywhere in NEFAR with a terrific breakfast. Plus we have an awesome camaraderie unrivaled elsewhere. We have fun on our caravan, and some of us even go to lunch together afterwards.”
