PineRidge up for Daytime Emmys, again

Jacksonville-based PineRidge Film and Television Company has been nominated for three awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, more generally known as the Emmys. Those nominations are in the Creative Arts and Entertainment categories for the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

The winners will be announced Friday in New York City at the Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center in the Time Warner Building.

“This is the third time in three years that PineRidge people and programs have been recognized by the Academy,” said PineRidge owner Jerry Smith. “Considering that we are up against the best daytime TV shows in America, it is quite an honor for Jacksonville.”

PineRidge has won two Daytime Emmys previously.

Eight employees of PineRidge Film and Television Company have been nominated in three categories. The following are the categories PineRidge has been nominated for and the employees who worked on those shows:

• Outstanding directing in a lifestyle show — “Samantha Brown: Passport to Latin America” on The Travel Channel; Jerry Smith and Amy Barnett, directors.

• Outstanding achievement in single camera editing — “Samantha Brown: Passport to Latin America” — Chris Beavers, David Dean and Steve Shearsby (of Nashville), editors.

• Outstanding special class series — “Samantha Brown: Passport to Latin America” — Jerry Smith and Cynthia Smith, executive producers; Amy Barnett, producer; Joan McCord, series producer/director; and David Womersley and Dov Ribnic, line producers.

“Passport to Latin America” is the fifth series produced by PineRidge for Discovery Travel Channel. PineRidge has also produced cable series for HGTV, Food Network, DIY, Fine Living Network, PBS stations nationwide, and specials for Southern Living Magazine, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Operation New Hope, Ready4Work and others.
