Judges and lawyers will be singing and dancing for a cause Friday, June 27.
The Jacksonville Bar Association is hosting its first “There Oughta Be a Law” variety show to raise money for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. Former Jacksonville Mayor and current University of North Florida President John Delaney and City General Counsel Richard Mullaney will share master of ceremonies duties as about 30 lawyers and judges will entertain at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts starting at 7:30 p.m. that Friday.
Paintings, photography and sculpture created by Jacksonville lawyers will also be on display in the lobby.
“We wanted to have an event to show support for JALA,” said Rose Marie Preddy, chair of the Lawyer Variety Show Social Sub-Committee. “And, we wanted to showcase the contributions of lawyers and judges outside of the legal community.“
The event is black-tie optional and tickets are $45, and they can be picked up through Ticketmaster, Jacksonville Veterans Arena and the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts lobby.
