Sally Corp., a Jacksonville-based company specializing in “dark rides” and animatronics for theme parks, has promoted two staffers to vice president positions. Former Design Director Drew Hunter is now over design, while former Technical Director Ray Dominey is over technical services.

Hunter joined the company eleven years ago as design director for haunted attractions and was the lead designer for the “Ghost Blasters” and “Ghost Hunt” dark rides in addition to the award-winning “Challenge of Tutankhamen,” “Gobbler Getaway,” “Jocco’s Mardi Gras Madness” and other ride and walk-through projects and characters.

He now oversees a team of designers, sculptors, scenic and finish artists.

“[Hunter’s] creative talent, dedication and ability to lead a team are key elements in the success Sally continues to experience with our dark rides and other projects,” said CEO John Wood.

Before joining Sally, Hunter was the owner of Vorta Inc., a Dallas-based company specializing in haunted attractions. A past president of the International Association of Haunted Attractions, Hunter’s haunted attractions and events have been featured at several Six Flags Parks, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! locations and well-known wax museums.

Dominey joined the company in 1996 as electronics supervisor, with the development of the interactive systems used in Sally’s dark rides one of his primary responsibilities.

Promoted to technical director in 1999, Dominey was charged with responsibility for all of the ride and show electronics systems, including control, lighting, audio and special effects, production and interface.

“Ray has an extraordinary grasp of the myriad issues we deal with as our interactive dark rides become increasingly complex,” said Wood. “He plays a crucial role in the technical design and implementation of every ride.”

Prior to joining Sally, Dominey was a 22-year veteran and senior chief of the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Force, specializing in radio communications and electronics.
