Madeira, the newest community in St. Augustine, formally got underway last month with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
There will be 749 residential units and Arthur Rutenberg Homes is the first preferred builder.
The community will be on 1,006 acres, including over 600 acres of wetlands, a tidal creek, lakes and preserved natural areas.
Madeira is approximately one half mile south of Lewis Speedway on the left side of U.S. 1.
