You might have noticed that the 2008-2009 JBA Bulletin has a new format and look!

We have returned to a weekly format inside the Monday edition of the Financial News and Daily Record. Thank you Cheyenne Palmer for agreeing for two years in a row to serve as our Editor-in-Chief! There are several benefits to this format including: reaching members more frequently; exposing non-members and the community to our organization and activities; and re-allocation of resources.

I encourage you to help us to continue to improve our communications and publication. The new Bulletin will include members’ spotlights, legal client’s corners and columns from various board and committee chairs, among others. Below is an overview of what you will find and how you can contribute.

Columns

Every week, the Bulletin will feature a message from the JBA President, a JBA or YLS Board member, or a Committee and Section Chair. Look to this section for guidance and information on programs, activities and more.

Lawyer Snapshot

Our members are highly involved in philanthropy and public service, and we want to recognize their efforts. If you, or someone you know, is involved in activities outside the legal profession that are helping improve our community, please bring these contributions to our attention. Please email your recommendation to Cheyenne Palmer, JBA Bulletin Editor at [email protected] or Mike Freed, JBA Board Member and Public Relations Liaison at [email protected].

Client’s Corner

Looking for an opportunity to be published without investing hours in research and editing? This new section might be your chance! The client’s corner section is aimed to provide easy to read, and useful tips on specific areas of law. If you are interested in this writing option, please submit a summary (about 250-300 words) of the top five helpful tips in your area of practice and information about yourself (about 40 to 50 words). Please email your proposed contribution to Cheyenne Palmer at [email protected] or Giselle Carson at [email protected].

Legal Calendar

Looking to attend a seminar or a voluntary bar meeting? Look no further than the legal calendar. There you will find a summary of the activities planned by the JBA, JALA and other voluntary bars and legal associations.

Scenes from Legal and Community Events

If you don’t have time to read all the important information featured in the Bulletin, don’t despair, at least glance at the photographs and you will have a general idea of the many interesting activities going on.

Specific Events Pullouts

A few times during the year, we will publish a specially designed pullout section including a more extensive coverage of particular JBA activities such as “Law Month!” Shea Michael Moser is the current Chair of Law Day. If you want to contribute to the Law Day events please contact Shea at [email protected].

Thank you for all you do to positively contribute to our profession and our community. I look forward to hearing from you on suggestions to improve and add content to the Bulletin. In the meantime, Happy Holiday Season!
