Who will win the third annual SPIRIT awards?
Nominations are open for the annual awards, given by Bailey Publishing & Communications, the publisher of Realty/Builder Connection.
“This is our way of recognizing those in our industries who go above and beyond,” said Jim Bailey, publisher of the newspaper. “We started this award with high hopes that it would be significant, and we’ve really been gratified with our reception.”
There are six categories plus a Lifetime Achievement Award. The categories, and the 2008 winners, are:
Lifetime: W.W. “Bill” Gay, W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractors.
Service: Greg Matovina, Matovina & Co.
Passion: Barbara Jenness, Barbara B. Jenness Real Estate.
Integrity: Wendell Davis, Watson Realty.
Respect: Richard Dostie, retired builder.
Initiative: Judy Hicks, Re/Max Coastal Real Estate.
Teamwork: Ken Kuester, Lumber Unlimited.
“We started this last year as a way of showing appreciation to people in the industry,” said Bailey. “We are the only publication that is mailed to every licensed Realtor, as well as many builders, and I think we should give a comprehensive award.
“There are many awards each year but we felt there was a need for recognition that transcended the associations and other organizations. We opened our SPIRIT awards to anyone.”
Nominations are solicited from the newspaper’s readership and a panel will make the final decisions. Bailey chairs the panel, which doesn’t include any potential winners.
Winners receive a specially-cast trophy.
