Gov. Charlie Crist (left) was in town Monday morning to receive the endorsement of the local Fraternal Order of Police, which is led by Nelson Cuba (right), in his bid for a U.S. Senate seat. Lonnie Miller Jr. (center), first vice president of the Florida State FOP and second vice president of the Jacksonville FOP, said Crist has long been an ally of law enforcement. “He has been on the cutting edge of 21st century law enforcement,” said Miller.
Statewide, about 20,000 officers belong to the FOP and Crist said he appreciates the endorsement.
“I am overwhelmed and I am extremely grateful,” he said. “I can’t tell you how much this means.”
