• As The Players Championship Chair Harold Tool predicted two weeks ago, Tiger Woods will play in the tournament May 3-9 at TPC Sawgrass. The Players officially announced his commitment Wednesday. “The addition of the world’s No. 1 player will only enhance The Players, and we look forward to welcoming Tiger – and what we hope will be record crowds – to TPC Sawgrass,” said Jay Monahan, Players vice president and executive director.

• Tim Connolly, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Jaguars, is leaving the team effective May 10 to join the front office of the Green Bay Packers. Macky Weaver, nephew of team owner Wayne Weaver, is being promoted and will oversee ticket sales and sponsorships.

• Banker Gene Maszy was elected president of the Southside Business Men’s Club Wednesday to complete the term of 2010 President Greg Tucker, who recently resigned. Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland attended in an honorary role, sporting a club-supplied name badge identifying him as “Supervisor Of This Election.”

• Arlington Acute Care is now Solantic Baptist Arlington as part of Solantic and Baptist Health’s joint venture. The Arlington center, on Cesery Boulevard, was previously a Baptist Health facility. Dr. Robert Kiely and Dr. Carlos Barberis, who have owned the practice since 1981, will staff the center along with Dr. April Turner and Solantic personnel.

• The City’s five Constitutional Officers have all signed a petition in support of Mayor John Peyton appointing Cindy Laquidara as General Counsel when current General Counsel Rick Mullaney resigns. Mullaney has filed to run for mayor and intends to resign in several weeks. Laquidara is chief deputy general counsel.

• The University of North Florida’s Small Business Week event May 13 is expected to draw more than 400 participants, says Janice Williams Donaldson, regional director of the UNF Small Business Development Center.
