As the new Duval County Courthouse continues to become more enclosed with the installation of windows, the framing of the rooms inside of the courthouse was a welcome sight to members of the legal community who toured the building Aug. 13.

“It’s really starting to come together,” said Joe Camerlengo, of the Camerlengo & Gonzalez Law Group and a past president of The Jacksonville Bar Association. “I look forward to the day the doors open,” he said.

About a dozen members of the legal community toured the building after a meeting of the Courthouse Architectural Review Committee.

The committee approved the concept of a pedestrian bridge connecting the new county courthouse and old federal courthouse. The next item to be voted on will be the facade on the side of the old federal courthouse that will include the pedestrian bridge.

The item will be discussed at the committee’s next meeting is 4 p.m. Thursday at City Hall on the fourth floor in the mayor’s conference room.

Completion of the courthouse project is estimated to be spring 2012.
