Looking for a place to get a haircut? A shave? Even a facial?

Those are the services offered at the new “Like That Cut” barber and styling shop on West Monroe Street between Laura and Ocean streets.

Co-owner and barber Leon Coleman said he and the other two barbers in the shop have more than 60 years of experience combined and they cut men’s, women’s and children’s hair.

“Black, white, Asian, whoever you are,” he said. “There’s no one who can walk through our door that we can’t take care of and we’re up to date with all the styles and designs.”

While the expertise is the latest, the atmosphere at the shop is traditional.

“We have a lot of respect for the ‘old school’ philosophy. We think that brings a lot to a barber shop,” said barber Tommy Rasheed.

He also said the location was chosen because of what it offers. “We love the energy Downtown. That’s why we’re here. It’s great being across the street from the Main Library. We also want to be a part of Downtown’s rebuilding,” he said.

Coleman said the location near the new County Courthouse and the demographics of Downtown office workers also played a role in the decision to display the striped pole in the window on Monroe Street.

“We’re professionals and we’re looking to serve the professional clientele,” he said.

Coleman also said the shop will be an Art Walk stop and he’s devoting a wall for local artists to exhibit their work.

“We want to be a part of everything that’s going on Downtown,” he said.

Like That Cut is open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. Coleman said discounts are offered to police officers and firefighters.

Walk-in clients are welcome and appointments are available by calling 305-5509.
