• Look for a lot of politics in August. One venue will be the Southside Business Men’s Club meetings. Next month’s listed speakers include a debate Aug. 11 between Mark Hulsey and Samuel Garrison, who are running for Circuit Judge Group 25, followed Aug. 18 by Marco Rubio, who is running for the U.S. Senate, and Aug. 25 by U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw.

• In a letter to Mayor John Peyton, City Council member Art Graham officially resigned his Council position Thursday. He was appointed to the Florida Public Service Commission. Those who walk through Council offices will notice that Graham’s picture among Council members was taken down.

• It’s been open for a couple months, but the Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches in San Marco will host its grand opening tomorrow. Patrons dining in 11 a.m.-3 p.m. can buy some subs for $1.

• The Florida Medical Association Alliance will inaugurate a new president Aug. 14. Shar Donovan, Duval County Medical Society Alliance president in 2003 and a Jacksonville resident since 1999, will become the organization’s 83rd president.

• Hampton Golf will manage the golf course and club facilities at Eagle Harbor in Fleming Island. Under the agreement, Hampton Golf will be responsible for the club’s golf, tennis, food and beverage, pool and hospitality needs. Hampton Golf manages 18 courses and clubs in the Southeast.

• Jennifer Belisario is the new sales and marketing manager at TPC Sawgrass. She previously was director of membership sales and communications at the Jacksonville Golf & Country Club and director of sales and marketing at Holiday Inn Express & Suites and the Four Point by Sheraton.
