• Shands Jacksonville intends to build a 110-bed, $125 million hospital at northeast Interstate 95 and Duval Road for completion within three years of state approval. It submitted a letter of intent to file a Certificate of Need application with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. “This move represents the long-term commitment of UF&Shands to the Jacksonville community as we seek to ensure area residents have access to the health care they need,” said Dr. David S. Guzick, senior vice president for health affairs at UF and president of the UF&Shands Health System. The first phase will include a medical office building.

• Corrections: The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce Leadership Trip to Houston will be Sept. 26-28 this year. An incorrect year was reported in Monday’s Daily Record. Also, Tom Van Berkel became Main Street America Group CEO, president and chairman in January 2002 and decided three months later to move the company to Jacksonville. It did not start to relocate until several months later.

• Katie Ross is U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson’s new regional director. She was previously the community planner at Jacksonville Community Council Inc. Ross accepted her new job Saturday and was a guest Monday at the meeting of the Rotary Club of Jacksonville.

• 121 Financial Credit Union has broken ground for a branch at 9730 Hutchinson Park Drive in the Regency area. 121 Financial Credit Union changed its name from Florida Telco about a year ago. CEO William Braddock said it will be the eighth branch in the market, in addition to its branch at Swisher International. It should be open in December. The contractor is Auld & White Constructors and the architect is RS&H.

• The Rotary Club of West Jacksonville announced officers and board members for 2011-12. They are Marshall Butler, president; John McCorvey, president-elect; Frank Scheu, past president; Dan Dodd, secretary; Nina Sasser, treasurer; Preston Keyes, sergeant-at-arms; and board members Paul Mohrman, Jimmy Kelly, Bob Hyde, Wally Barrs and Kathy Cold.

• The Sulzbacher Center will recognize National Health Care for the Homeless Day starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday

• The Jacksonville Economic Development Commission’s Sports and Entertainment office is planning a different kind of ball game for Florida-Georgia weekend. A rugby match between the club teams from both schools is being developed as part of the entertainment for the weekend celebrating the rivalry between the two schools, according to coordinator Mike Bouda.

• Jacksonville University is working to bring back the Moe’s Southwest Grill Classic lacrosse tournament to EverBank Field for its second year. The stadium hosted teams from Duke, Georgetown, Jacksonville and Notre Dame universities in February for the inaugural event.
