The Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission has been asked to provide Gov. Rick Scott with nominees for the vacancy in the Fourth Circuit Court that resulted from the death of Judge Jefferson W. Morrow.

Each person interested in applying must deliver a completed application plus nine copies and one compact disk or flash drive containing a duplicate of the completed application in Adobe.pdf format to:

C. Wayne Alford, Chair

Fourth Judicial Circuit

Nominating Commission

Alford Law Group, P.A.

8833 Perimeter Park Blvd.,

Suite 104

Jacksonville, FL 32216

Applicants must be able to fulfill the constitutional qualifications before assuming the office of circuit judge, which require the applicants to be members of The Florida Bar for the past five years; residents of Duval, Clay or Nassau counties; and registered voters in Florida.

All applications must be delivered by 5 p.m. April 15. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. The application form can be downloaded from The Florida Bar’s website at www.floridabar.org. The inclusion of a recent photograph is required.

In order to assist the Judicial Nominating Commission in its application review, all questions in the application must be answered fully and completely.

In addition, applications should include current and accurate contact information for judges, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and references because those individuals will be contacted.

If any requested information is missing from an application, the Judicial Nominating Commission will consider the applicant’s lack of effort in submitting a complete application.

Applicant interviews will be held May 3 and, if needed, May 4 in the chambers of Chief Judge Donald M. Moran, Room 222, of the Duval County Courthouse
