Storms may have rolled into Downtown Thursday, but they didn’t keep people from a party with a cause at River City Brewing Co.

The Jacksonville Bar Association Young Lawyers Section hosted the 3rd Annual Rendezvous on the River charity fundraiser Thursday and proceeds benefited Dreams Come True of Jacksonville. The nonprofit fulfills the dreams of children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions.

“The event turned out to be a huge success thanks to all of our guests, volunteers, sponsors, and River City Brewing Co.,” said event Chair Fraz Ahmed, a member of the YLS board of governors.

“It was amazing to see that not even the weather could stop the great people of Jacksonville from coming out to support the children and families of Dreams Come True,” he said.

About 175 people attended the event and raised close to $4,700 for Dreams Come True.

The Rendezvous on the River was developed as both a charity event during the annual Law Day celebration and a networking opportunity for Jacksonville area professionals.

Those in attendance were entertained by the band “Fratello.”

Ahmed recognized that the event wouldn’t take place without the help of volunteers Lindsay Tygart, Shea Moser, Tricia Rado, Matt Detzel, Renee Maxey, Casandra Lim, Amanda Vaillette, Chris Basler, Jessica Sexton, Juan Cabrera and Matt Hinson.

Sponsors were Florida Coastal School of Law; the Student Bar Association at Florida Coastal; the Women’s Law Students Association at Florida Coastal; “Fratello”; Kubicki Draper; the Law Office of Mark Rosenblum; Moseley Prichard Parrish Knight & Jones; Murphy & Anderson; River City Brewing Co.; Tanner Bishop; and The JBA Young Lawyers Section.
