• While the Jacksonville Jazz Festival is this weekend, the music-inspired events don’t stop there. The First Wednesday Art Walk theme for June is “Making Music” and will feature a performance by Just Jazz Quintet in Hemming Plaza and a free Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra concert at AT&T Tower 301 among other activities. The next Art Walk is from 5-9 p.m. June 1 Downtown. For more information, visit www.downtownjacksonville.org.

• There’s an app for that: Small business owners and budding entrepreneurs can now get access to business-building resources using smartphones with the introduction of an application by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The free mobile-drive application can be downloaded at the SBA’s website, www.sba.gov/content/sba-mobile-app.

• Speaking of apps there are several deal-of-the-day websites promoting discounts on restaurants and entertainment, but one Jacksonville-based company has launched a similar deal for smartphone applications. Smartphones Technologies, a mobile application publisher, has launched a “SmartApps Deal of the Day” that offers special discounts on Android and iPhone applications daily. For more information on the service, go to www.smartapps.com.
