• After ultimately being reduced $1.3 million in the upcoming budget, the Jacksonville Public Library will have new hours beginning Oct. 15 — but will remain open Mondays. However, all locations will have reduced hours and the Maxville Branch will not be closed. The five regional libraries that offer Sunday hours will be open one less hour during that day, though they will no longer be closed on Sundays during the summer. • Bill and Kim Prescott continue their “Dine with Us Downtown” culinary tour. The next stop is Oct. 13 at Le Cena Ristorante Downtown at 211 N. Laura St. The Prescotts are asking friends to make reservations between 5 p.m.-midnight. Their reservation is at 7 p.m. The goal this time, like their previous two group nights out, is to attract 100 diners Downtown for the evening. Bill Prescott is CFO for the Jacksonville Jaguars and his intent is to draw people Downtown. They attracted 110 diners in August to Café Nola and Chew and they brought 124 diners in September to Indochine. For reservations to La Cena, call 633-9255.

• In partnership with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Hubbard House will kick off October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month today with a 10 a.m. press conference to raise public awareness of the issue. The event will serve as an official release of the 2010 Domestic Violence Fatality Report and launch the 2011 Purple Ribbon Campaign for Northeast Florida law enforcement.

• The Jaguars’ will have another day to sell enough tickets to its Sunday home game against the Saints to avoid a local blackout. The team was granted a 24-hour extension by the NFL to sell the needed 1,805 tickets, according to the team. It has until 1 p.m. today to do so.
