Purpose: to plan Council programs, MLS caravans and social events. Council chairpersons lead these functions within each Council.
Manager: Debbie Dermody is the NEFAR Beaches Council Area manager who oversees all of the beach members’ needs.
Office: NEFAR’s Beaches Service Center is home base for Ponte Vedra Council activities. It is at 4130 S. Third Street in Jacksonville Beach. 249-5171, fax 247-0347.
Membership: Realtor members. NEFAR affiliates including a number of professions such as lenders, pest control, title insurance, home warranty and real estate attorneys.
Who can attend meetings: Any NEFAR member or affiliate can attend any NEFAR council function or activity.
When do they meet? Currently, the Ponte Vedra Council holds quarterly breakfast meetings, which include a guest speaker. The breakfasts are held at various offsite locations around Ponte Vedra.
How many attend: 100-200.
Cost to attend: Varies depending on site.
Meeting agenda: to hear from various speakers about real estate or community topics and network.
Caravans: The Ponte Vedra Council conducts weekly open house caravans. These are not typical caravans where members travel within a group to view properties for sale. Instead, the various properties on the list for the week are open from 10 a.m.– 2 p.m. and individual members travel at their discretion to view any of the properties they wish during the open hours. There is no cost for caravans.
Other events: Christmas party.
Leadership: Paul Andry of Coldwell Banker Vanguard Realty is the 2012 chairperson.
Andry’s role: “I am responsible for leading the group in planning for events, meetings and activities. Part of that includes organizing, and promoting support for the council activities. As chairman, I have been involved in getting affiliate members to sponsor our meetings and events, and coordinating the efforts of our council’s subcommittees. One of my key responsibilities is in arranging for the program speakers, topics and activities for each of our quarterly meetings, always mindful that these should be of significance to our real estate community.”
Dermody’s role: Each Council has a NEFAR staff person assigned to it as a liaison. The liaison coordinates information and activities for that council, in cooperation with the Council chairperson.
