The Florida Home Builders Association’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors has weighed in on the first draft of a Strategic Plan that will chart FHBA’s future into 2015.

The Strategic Plan was presented by Co-Chairs Suzanne Graham, the current president, and Immediate Past President Dave Carter, and includes improving communication between FHBA and the 25 local HBAs in Florida, enhancing member services, and streamlining the governance process.

Elements of the plan that require Board action, such as Bylaws changes, will be dealt with at the July 13 Summer Board Meeting during the SEBC in Orlando.

In addition, the committee and board and heard from National Association of Home Builders CEO Jerry Howard.

Howard brought the Washington perspective to FHBA’s conference, outlining changes being considered with the mortgage finance system as well as issues related to immigration and tax reform initiatives being undertaken by Congress.

He said lending practices remain tight as banks await federal Dodd-Frank rules that have not yet been promulgated, and reported that NAHB is deeply involved in trying to achieve more accurate appraisals and holding down the rising costs of building materials.
