Col. Mustard's to open 2nd location

Col. Mustard's Breakfast & Burgers will open soon at 8060 Philips Highway, No. 101.

Col. Mustard's Phat Burgers operates in Jacksonville Beach, at 1722 N. Third St., not far from Duncan U. Fletcher High School.

Col. Mustard's Phat Burgers posted Nov. 26 on its Facebook page that it had signed a lease at Philips Highway and Baymeadows Road, taking a site by Al's Pizza and Ancient City Subs.

"We will be opening the next Col. Mustard's at that location in about two months," said the November Facebook posting.

The city OK'd a sign permit for Col. Mustard's Breakfast & Burgers at the address.

A menu posted at the restaurant's jaxbestburgers.com site explains that the burgers are called "phat" because they are "phresh" and "phabulous" and that the handmade, grilled-to-order burgers weigh more than a half-pound each.

One Internet definition of "phat" is "pretty hot and tempting."

In addition to more than two dozen burger varieties, the menu features sandwiches, wraps, wings, tenders, tacos, quesadillas, hot dogs, salads, fries, onion wings, mozzarella sticks, corn nuggets, potatoes and more.

There also are kids' meals, a "Fletcher Bag Lunch," desserts and shakes.

Jessica Cooper, as president, and Thomas Cooper, as vice president, registered Col. Mustard's SS Inc. with the state Division of Corporations on Sept. 6. The principal address was 8060 Philips Highway, No. 101. The Coopers listed a Neptune Beach mailing address.
