Locally owned Brumos Automotive is selling its Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and Porsche dealerships and related operations to Chicago-based Fields Auto Group.

Brumos is privately owned and serves Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia through nine dealerships.

Fields also is privately opened and has dealerships across several states, stretching from Madison, Wis., to Lakeland. The company owns Land Rover and Jaguar dealerships in Jacksonville and Cadillac dealerships in Orange Park and St. Augustine.

Terms of the deal were not announced.

Representatives from Brumos did not return a call for comment Wednesday.

“This has been a difficult decision for me because I am so fond of our folks at Brumos,” said Dano Davis, Brumos’ majority shareholder, in a news release. “They are the ones who have done such a good job serving our customers and helping to grow our business.”

Davis said he believed Fields will be good for Brumos’ employees and customers, as it also is family-owned and operated.

Brumos President and CEO Charlie Tomm said in a news release it’s an opportunity to have a buyer and seller with philosophical and operational similarities. The transition should be “almost seamless” for customers and team members, he added.

Dan Fields, a principal at Fields Automotive, in the release said the company is looking forward to increasing its presence and contributions to Jacksonville and other communities through the partnership.
